Question 1

What are the current US tariffs on Canadian goods?

Accepted Answer

The United States has imposed Section 232 tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminum, autos, and softwood lumber, and since August 22, 2026 a 50% Section 338 duty on a list of other Canadian goods including dairy, alcohol, furniture, plywood, machinery, and electronics. It has also banned imports of some listed Canadian products since September 29, 2026.

Question 2

What are Canada's retaliatory counter-tariffs on US imports?

Accepted Answer

Canada keeps counter-tariffs on U.S. steel, aluminum, and autos and, since September 8, 2026, applies 15%, 25%, and 50% counter-tariffs on about C$27.6 billion of U.S. goods, including dairy, electronics, appliances, apparel, lumber, and machinery. Most other U.S. imports remain tariff-free.

Question 3
